New: Manage Page Settings in One Place
Managing a Start.me page is now easier. Instead of opening separate menus for layout, background, visibility, and preferences, you can now adjust the most important page settings in one place. This includes a new Page header, and page-level controls for the Search bar, and Open links settings.
To open Page settings, click the pencil icon in the page header and select Page settings.
Page title, description, and ownership

In the first tab, General, you can change the Page title (including emoji), and the description of your page. You can also change where your page (especially useful for teams), or archive it (PRO feature).
Background

In the second tab, you can see the familiar tools to personalize the looks and feels of your page. Change the background with one of our free templates, select a color or upload your own.
In the new color picker, you can also quickly add a custom color, which we’ll remember for other pages.
You can also set the default widget transparency, so you can achieve the seem look for all your pages.
Third tab: see and set your columns

To set and resize the columns on your page, you open the third tab of the Page settings modal. Now you’ll see immediately how many columns you’ve added. You can go up to seven. To resize your columns, just click and see the results on your page immediately.
To reduce your columns, you can click Remove column, starting from the right side of your page. Don’t worry about losing any widgets: they will move automatically to the previous column.
Page preferences

The final tab of the modal will give you several page-specific options and features.
The most interesting one, is the brand-new Page header. You can use it to display the page title and page description, and to see other information. If you’ve shared that page, you can also quickly and easily post it to your favorite social media channels.

Other preferences include the option to open links in a new or the same window. You could always set this for your own account, but now you can set it for a single page too. This is a much requested feature, we’ve been happy to implement.
We’ve also added two PRO features you can set quickly and easily for the page you’re on:
- Display or hide the Search bar – now you can set this not just on the account level, but also for a specific page.
- Turn on Page analytics, to monitor how many visitors and clicks it gets.
You can set the default values for some of these features in the User preferences.
Other improvements
We also made smaller improvements to several widgets, including Profile, Charts, and Adsense.
Does the new Page settings modal make it easier to manage your pages? We’re also planning more improvements to the Page header, so suggestions and requests are welcome.
Please let us know in the comments.

It looks like on the screenshot that the page header can stretch across the entire page width, but I can’t find any way to do that.
Hi Karsten, thanks for noticing this. In a first iteration, we had this option. Later we changed it into a more widget-like feel. Can you try again, and let us know which one you like best?
Thank you for your response. I still don’t see the option so I don’t know how to try it. But actually, my biggest wish for Start.me in general is a more flexible system where individual rows can spread across multiple columns. I don’t know if that’s something you would consider.
Hi Karsten,
Sorry to hear that you can’t see the option. It should be available in the header of one of your personal pages.
Please look for the pencil icon. Click it, then select “Page settings.”
As for a more flexible system for individual rows, not just columns, I can definitely see how that would be a useful addition to Start.me. I’ll ask our developers whether this is something we can implement.
Stay tuned!
Best,
Stefan
I do see the Page settings and where to turn the header on and off, but no option to make it wide. Oh well, it’s not important. I would much rather have the option to make the whole system flexible with rows spanning more than one column.
Hi Karsten, thanks for clarifying. You found the right Page settings, but there currently isn’t an option to make the header full-width.
The broader layout flexibility you describe – especially rows or widgets spanning more than one column – is a long-standing request from several users. It is on our list of improvements to explore, although it is not a simple change because the current page layout is built around fixed columns.
I’ve added your feedback to the request. I understand why this would make pages more flexible, especially for larger dashboards.
I absolutely love what you all are doing with Start.me. I greatly appreciate that you are continually improving it without disruption or loss of content. Thanks for a great product!
