A message from our founder and CEO

Dear users of start.me,

Unfortunately, as of this afternoon, users of the Chrome browser see the following message when accessing start.me.

Deceptive site ahead
Attackers on proxy.start.me may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing your personal information (for example, passwords, phone numbers or credit cards). Learn more.”

We use the proxy.start.me sub-domain to allow our users to embed web content (like an image or a webpage) onto their start.me page over a secure HTTPS:// connection. We introduced this proxy to avoid conflicts between HTTP:// and HTTPS:// connections.

At this moment we don’t have any information that start.me or proxy.start.me has been hacked or misused, but nonetheless, we have decided to close down and terminate this proxy immediately. As a result of this, some of the embed widgets will not work anymore.

We are working with Google to get this issue warning message removed ASAP, and we apologize to you for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
Arjen Robijn
