Discover revisited: an inspiring new take on the Web!

If you’ve ever manually added a bookmark to your start.me page, you know that we offer suggestions in the process. Once you start typing, you’ll see them. But did you know we also provide tons of tips in categories? In this article, we’ll show you additional ways to spice up your trusted little start page. We call it Discover revisited!

In this second iteration of the Discover section, we’ve decided to open up our database of valuable sites to all our users, not just our PRO members. There’s a good reason to do this now.

We’ve gathered information about no less than 63.935 sites, from over 43 countries. We categorized them all in over 350 subcategories. To top it off, we decided to add eleven main subjects to the collection, so you can skim the many options effortlessly. Sites are also ranked by popularity; this ranking is based on our own algorithm and on data research.

What we were aiming for is this: curated content designed to get more information, more power, to our users.

Get out of your bubble, with ease!

11 subjects to browse

11 subjects, 1 Internet
11 topics, 1 Internet

We’ve divided the World Wide Web into these the main subjects:

  • Apps
  • Arts & Entertainment
  • Business & Finance
  • Education & Science
  • Lifestyle
  • News
  • Personal
  • Shopping
  • Sports
  • Tech
  • Travel

We know it’s not precisely the Dewey system, and we know that some of our users might prefer a different take on the Internet, but these are no problems at all.

If you want to make a different version, why don’t you create a new page, collect your preferred set of links, and share your selection with the world?

You’re supposed to make Discover your own!

Beyond the list of sites

Add with a single click
Add with a single click

Once you’ve found a website you want to investigate, you can click it.

After clicking, you’ll jump to a new section, dedicated to the site you’re interested in. You’ll see a brief description, the labels we’ve added to the site, all the RSS feeds the site has to offer. There are widgets with their Social media. You can add them to your own pages by clicking the plus icon. You’ll even get an impression of the site’s traffic over time.

At the bottom of the page, we offer similar websites to the one you’re investigating, as well as a quick and dirty search query. Site research has never been more accessible!

Just like with the widgets, you can click the plus in the top right corner, to add the site to your page.

For example, if you are interested in Tech, you might want to check out the TechCrunch page https://blog.start.me/site/techcrunch.com where you can find exciting news feeds to add to your homepage. Or if you want to know everything about available sports websites, you can go to https://blog.start.me/discover/us/sports, select your favorite sport and locate just the site, widget or News feed you were looking for.

With this new discover section you’ll have a new research tool to keep your pages fresh forever.

Also, did we mention it’s also free forever?

Get there now!

This is how you get there:
