Free PRO subscription & Resources for Teachers

Free PRO subscription & Resources for Teachers

As the coronavirus sweeps the world, many countries feel obliged to lock down their schools, cancel all events and urge companies to work from home, to contain or mitigate the disease as much as possible. The disruption of our social and economic life is immense. Our hearts go out to everyone touched by the virus, directly or indirectly.

We strongly believe that humanity will overcome this crisis. All we need is reliable information, the willingness to cooperate, and the conviction that together we’re stronger than alone.

So, in the spirit of combatting the coronavirus together, we decided to make PRO accounts for free for all Teachers. If you are a teacher and would like to use PRO, please e-mail us at support@start.me and we’ll upgrade your account for free until the end of 2020.

How start.me helps students and teachers with remote learning
With start.me, teachers can provide students with a simple start hub for all their online learning resources. This avoids teachers having to share lots of different links (to homework tools, education resources, forms, videos, etc). Instead, a teacher only has to share one link to the start hub.

Free resources

We have also collected some a list of (mostly) free resources that can help teachers during the lockdown.

5 resources for distant learning:

  • Khanacademy – we can’t think of a more comprehensive collection of free courses for every level.
  • Kahoot – make, share or use free surveys – special offer because of the coronavirus.
  • PBSlearningmedia – lot’s of free material here, only available from the USA (or with VPN).
  • Thingiverse – why not build things with a 3D-printer from home? It’s creative and instructive!
  • TEDEd – a great collection of lessons, some of them made by students. Free and fun.
  • Udemy – free coding courses for kids!
  • Crazygames – games, but not just for fun. This link leads to Math games!

5 resources for remote work:

  • Zoom – set up videoconferences.
  • Trello – manage all the tasks, lists, and collaborations you can think of.
  • Evernote – unlimited notes and notebooks, you can share with collaborators.
  • Basecamp – split your work in projects, add users, and stay on top of everything.
  • Chatzy– free private chat service (no registration), you can use in any browser. Invite by email.

And please, let us know in the comments or by e-mail, what else we can do to help you during this difficult time.

Take care everybody.
